# categoryId and category

> The ID and name of the category or collection being viewed.

`categoryId` is your ID for the category or collection. `category` is its name. Send both on `view_category`.

Sample payload with every parameter for `view_category`:

```javascript theme={null}
window._upstack('track', 'view_category', {
  // Standard parameters
  categoryId: '298765',
  category: 'Summer 2026',

  // User data
  email: 'jane@example.com',

  sortOrder: 'best_selling',
  filterApplied: 'size_medium'
});
