| ------------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| [**Revenue**](/reference/metrics/funnel/conversions/revenue) | Total revenue from tracked purchases |
| **Costs** | Variable costs associated with fulfilled orders (COGS, fulfillment, transaction fees) |

## Example

Your Shopify store generated **\$85,000** in tracked revenue last month with **\$42,500** in total costs.

| Period | Revenue | Costs | Profit |
| -------------- | -------- | -------- | -------- |
| Last Month | \$85,000 | \$42,500 | \$42,500 |
| Previous Month | \$72,000 | \$38,000 | \$34,000 |

Profit increased by **\$8,500** (25%) month-over-month, driven by higher revenue and improved cost efficiency.

## How It Works

Profit is calculated by subtracting all variable costs from the attributed revenue tracked by the Upstack Pixel. This gives you a clear picture of actual earnings from your marketing-attributed purchases, accounting for costs like COGS, fulfillment, and transaction fees.
