How to Create a Purchase Goal in Google Ads Using the Google Ads Tag (For Different Interface)

This guide explains how to create a purchase conversion goal in Google Ads with Enhanced Conversions for Upstack Data tracking.

Quick Summary

  • Navigate to Tools & Settings β†’ Measurement β†’ Conversions.

  • Click "+ Create conversion action" and select Website.

  • Choose Purchase goal and set up manually.

  • Name it "Purchase (Upstack Data)" with Enhanced Conversions enabled.

  • Save to receive Conversion ID and Label.


Setup Instructions

Step 1: Sign in to Google Ads

  • Go to Google Ads and sign in with your Google account.


Step 2: Access Conversions

  • In the top navigation bar, click Tools & Settings

  • Under Measurement, select Conversions


Step 3: Add a New Conversion Action

  • Click "+ Create conversion action"

  • Select Website when prompted


Step 4: Configure the Purchase Goal

  • Enter your Website domain and click Scan (optional)

  • Choose "Add a conversion action manually"

  • Select Purchase as the Goal and action optimization

  • Name your conversion as "Purchase - Upstack Data"


Step 5: Enable Enhanced Conversions

  • Ensure Enhanced Conversions is turned on

  • Then click Done

Note: Enhanced Conversions improves match rates by using first-party customer data securely.


Step 6: Save Configuration

  • Click Save and Continue to complete the setup

What You'll Receive

After saving:

  • Conversion ID (format: AW-XXXXXXXXX)

  • Conversion Label (alphanumeric string)

Use these in your Upstack Data configuration
