How to Generate my Facebook Conversion API Key?

This guide shows how to generate your Facebook Conversion API Key for proper configuration & accurate server-side tracking in Upstack Data.

What is a Conversions API Key?

A Facebook Conversions API key lets Upstack Data send conversions from your server to Meta, improving accuracy for iOS users and ad-blocked traffic.


Steps to Generate Your Conversions API Key

Step 1: Sign in to Facebook Business Events Manager


Step 2: Find or Create Your Pixel

If you have a pixel: You'll see it listed in Events Manager, then proceed to Step 3.

If you need to create one:

  • Click the green "Connect Data Sources" button

  • Select "Web"

  • Click "Next" or "Get Started"

  • Follow the instructions to create a new Facebook Pixel


Step 3: Open Your Pixel

  • Once you have a Pixel, click on it's name in the list. You'll be taken to the Pixel's overview page.


Step 4: Navigate to Settings

  • On the Pixel overview page, navigate to Facebook Pixel Settings by clicking the "Settings" tab.


Step 5: Generate Access Token

  • On the "Settings" tab, scroll down to Conversions API and click "Generate access token".


Step 6: Copy Your Access Token

  • Copy the value of the Access Token. This is your Facebook Conversions API Key.

⚠️ Important Reminder: This token will only be shown once. Copy it immediately.

Token format: Starts with "EAA" followed by 200+ characters


Step 7: Add to Upstack Data

  • Paste the token into Upstack Data Facebook Ads Pixel Destination Setup.

Note: Ensure to check the option Check to enable sending events via Facebook Conversions API

⚠️Important Reminder: Note that the Conversion API Key is a sensitive piece of information, and you should store it securely. Also, keep in mind that the Conversion API Key is specific to your Facebook Ads account and cannot be used across multiple accounts.
