Formula
Blended Initiate Checkouts = Meta Initiate Checkouts + TikTok Initiate Checkouts
Google Ads doesn’t contribute. Upstack doesn’t import a per-action checkout count from Google, so Google rows leave this column empty.
How it works
TikTok reports checkout starts in separate website, onsite, and offline fields. Upstack adds all four, so the TikTok share can be higher than TikTok’s website-only
initiate_checkout figure.
Meta results come back with the attribution window on your Meta connection, 7-day click and 1-day view by default. Upstack doesn’t request a specific window from TikTok.
Worked example
An apparel store compares two weeks after moving budget from Meta to TikTok:
Blended Initiate Checkouts rose 8% while blended purchases fell. Checkout-to-purchase on the platforms’ own numbers dropped from 39% (610 ÷ 1,550) to 35% (590 ÷ 1,670). The extra TikTok checkout starts didn’t finish at the same rate. Upstack stores the four TikTok fields as one total, so the next check is TikTok’s own report to see which field grew.
How to interpret it
- Use it as a mid-funnel volume signal. Read it next to Blended Add to Carts and Blended Purchases.
- Expect overlap. Meta and TikTok each count the checkouts they can attribute. One shopper exposed to both can be counted twice.
- Cross-check against your site. Initiate Checkout to Purchase Rate uses checkouts the Upstack Pixel tracked, independent of platform attribution.
- The cost metric matches this count. Blended Cost per Initiate Checkout divides only Meta and TikTok spend by this count, so Google spend doesn’t raise it.
FAQ
Why is Google missing from Blended Initiate Checkouts?
Why is Google missing from Blended Initiate Checkouts?
Upstack imports Google’s conversion totals but not a per-action checkout count. Google checkout conversions, if you track them, are inside Google All Conversions.
Why is Blended Initiate Checkouts higher than checkouts in Shopify?
Why is Blended Initiate Checkouts higher than checkouts in Shopify?
Each platform credits checkouts to its own ads, and the counts overlap when a shopper saw ads on both. TikTok’s figure also includes its onsite and offline checkout fields.
Does a high initiate checkout count with few purchases mean checkout is broken?
Does a high initiate checkout count with few purchases mean checkout is broken?
Not on its own. Compare the pixel-tracked checkout-to-purchase rate for the same period before assuming a site problem.
