Prerequisites
Before you start, you need:- An active Upstack Data account (sign up)
- Your LinkedIn Partner ID β see How to find your LinkedIn Partner ID
- A Conversions API access token β see How to generate a LinkedIn Conversions API token
- Conversion Rule IDs for each event type β see How to create LinkedIn Conversion Rules
Steps to configure the LinkedIn destination
Open Event Destinations in Upstack
Sign in to your Upstack Data dashboard and navigate to Event Destinations from the left sidebar.
Enable the Conversions API
Toggle Enable LinkedIn Conversions API to send server-side events in addition to the Insight Tag.
When enabled, Upstack sends events directly to LinkedInβs Conversions API, bypassing browser restrictions. We recommend keeping this enabled for maximum match quality.
Enter your API Access Token
Paste your Conversions API access token into the API Access Token field. This token must have
rw_conversions and r_ads scopes. If you havenβt generated one yet, see How to generate a LinkedIn Conversions API token.Map Conversion Rule IDs
Enter the Conversion Rule ID for each event type you want to track:
You donβt need to fill in all fields. Only configure the events you want to track. Upstack will skip events that donβt have a corresponding Conversion Rule ID.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Purchase Conversion Rule ID | The numeric ID for your Purchase conversion rule |
| Add to Cart Conversion Rule ID | The numeric ID for your Add to Cart conversion rule |
| Lead Conversion Rule ID | The numeric ID for your Lead conversion rule |
| Sign Up Conversion Rule ID | The numeric ID for your Sign Up conversion rule |
Enable Enhanced Matching (recommended)
Toggle Enable Enhanced Matching to send hashed user data (email) to LinkedIn for improved ad attribution.
Enhanced Matching sends SHA-256 hashed email addresses to LinkedIn. The data is hashed before it leaves your Upstack account.
Save the configuration
Click Create Configuration (or Save Changes if editing) to save the destination.
Verify the destination is healthy
In the Upstack dashboard, navigate to Event Destinations. Your LinkedIn destination should display Healthy with a green status indicator within 5 minutes. If the status shows Unhealthy, double-check:
- Partner ID is correct (numeric, no spaces)
- API Access Token is valid and hasnβt expired
- Conversion Rule IDs are correct (numeric values only)
- Your LinkedIn user has the required permissions
