Lapsed Purchases counts purchase events from customers who returned to buy after an extended period of inactivity.

Formula

Lapsed Purchases = COUNT ( lapsed_purchase events )

Formula Components

Example

Your Shopify store recorded 347 lapsed purchases in Q1. Each one came from a customer whose previous order was at least 12 months old:

How It Works

Upstack checks each purchase event that has a customer ID and an order ID. It finds the customer’s most recent earlier order in Upstack’s order records. If that order was created 12 or more calendar months before Upstack processes the new purchase, Upstack generates a lapsed_purchase event. This measure counts those events. A customer with no earlier order never generates lapsed_purchase. The check is separate from the new or returning classification, so a lapsed customer’s order usually also counts in Returning Customer Purchases, but not always.
